What's this then?

common is a space for thinking about the common good, attempting a contemplative life, tech, culture, and politics.

Rooted haphazardly in an imperfect radical politics, Benedictine/Cistercian/Zen spirituality, common good socialism, and neo-Luddism, common explores the big and small ways we try to live more humanely in an inhumane world. It is interested in community, labor, ritual, silence, local life, beauty, solidarity, and forms of resistance.

There may be essays on politics and spirituality. common also touches on literature, film, art, education, and super duper ordinary life.

This isn't the spot for ideological purity or branding, but attention. To the soul, to place, to one another, and to the possibility of a more common life.
